The Dominion Club Full Family Membership Special

Golf, Tennis, Swim & More 55 spots for $5500

By: Carissa - my story of how I joined my first Country Club

To Celebrate The Dominion Club's 20th Anniversary , they are offering a Lifetime Family Membership with Full Golf, Tennis, Swim and more, for $5500 per family; As of now there are 53 openings still available at this price.

The Dominion Club is a family friendly club that offers many great activities for families throughout the year, including cooking classes, dances with your kids, corn hole, themed holiday dinners, yoga and more.

When we were relocating to this area, I was very anxious about what I was going to do with our 3 kids and no local beach.  Admittedly, I was spoiled, having lived minutes from some of the prettiest beaches in the US. I asked our real estate agent what families did in the summer to cope with the heat. The Dominion Club was on the list.

I called, spoke to Maggy Magee and basically said, "do you have a pool?" Maggy wanted to meet and tour with us personally.  I am sure we will go down in history as being the easiest sale- I said "where do I send the check?”

The Dominion Club has become a little bit of home for us, as we do not have any extended family here. We spend Easter, Mother's Day and other special days with our friends at the club. It is not pretentious at all (one of my preconceived notions), the Golf & Tennis Pros are so approachable and willing to teach at all levels. The staff is accessible and listens to what the members want along with hiring local teens to work the pool all summer and keep them busy!  Our family has truly enjoyed our club and we continue to make the most of all it has to offer.

If you are looking for a club that welcomes your entire family and makes you feel at ease, this is the place for you!

Maggy Magee can be reached at 360 1200.

Editor's note: The Dominion Club has been an advertiser on site since we started and believed in what Mac Kid was setting out to do, this article is a Thank You to them and selfishly I am hoping maybe some of our readers may join and I will get to meet you!

Celebrating our 20th Anniversary

The Dominion Club is a private Country Club established in August of 1992 and is located in the center of the Wyndham master-planned community. Although the lovely view of The Dominion Club from across the lake makes a dynamic statement, the real beauty of the facility can be found within the clubhouse and in its adjacent areas. Inside the 28,000 square foot Clubhouse, you will find the Rotunda special event space, the Wyndham Grill, the Players Lounge, the Golf Shop and Locker Rooms. Kids, from toddlers to teens, stay busy with a full calendar of activities, such as the Kids Club, summer camps, sports clinics, swimming lessons and our own swim team. The adjacent Swim and Racquet Facility includes a Junior Olympic Swimming Pool with seasonal casual dining and an adult beverage bar, nine lighted Tennis Courts including five clay surface courts and four hard surface courts and Tennis Shop. Nightly dining and social events are numerous through out all seasons.

In addition, The Dominion Club features a golf course designed by renowned golfer Curtis Strange, a two time U.S. Open Champion and former Ryder Cup Captain. The 18-hole Championship Course takes advantage of the land's extensive natural features, resulting in one of the most visually exciting and challenging golf courses in the mid Atlantic region. No matter the interest or age group, there’s an activity at The Dominion Club to appeal to everyone who wants to have fun.

Sean is our General Manager at The Dominion Club and I thought it would be

fun to learn a little bit more about him!

• Sean McLaren has been happily married to Cassandra for 16

years and has three children, Morgan, 22, Connor, 20 and

Madailein, 14.

• Born in Englewood, NJ, his introduction into the food and

beverage world was washing dishes at Guido Fusco's Alpine

Lodge - known as a gathering place for wise guys - and where a

young Phoebe Snow was the singer.

• After graduating from Mount Saint Mary's College Sean indulged

his talent at mentoring by teaching 5th grade History and

English. Further contributing to society, he changed career paths

and took graduate classes in social work at UVA, working with

the mentally challenged at Lynchburg Training School and

Hospital for almost three years. (Some would say this prepared

him perfectly for the F & B business!)

• When he returned to F & B, it was as manager of That Seafood

Place in Virginia Beach and he hasn't looked back. He became

banquet manager at the Ramada Renaissance Hotel in Richmond;

opened a deli near University of Richmond; and then set his sites

on country clubs. Eight years at Country Club of Virginia as

banquet manager, then clubhouse manager; five years as general

manager of Winchester Country Club; seven years as general

manager of Meadowbrook Country Club and one year at Willow

Oaks as clubhouse manager. He's been at the helm of TDC for

five years now - financially the most successful years in the

Club's history.

• He points to TDC's membership as its most valuable asset - its

youth and vitality, friendliness, ability to have fun - it's a place of

updated traditions.

• He particularly enjoys acting as its number one host. Sean knew

he enjoyed connecting to people and fondly remembers Mrs.

Cary, a 90 year old customer of his deli, Frazier & Moore. They

would visit each time she went into the shop and became close

friends - she even remembered him in her will.

• When not at the Club, he enjoys yard work, learning to play the

guitar and sailing

• When asked what are the qualities needed to be successful in his

job, Sean points to listening skills, adaptability and altruism.

• Something Members may not know is that our maintenance

building and clubhouse sites are at the highest elevation in

Henrico.
